The Britton-George Family.
Dear: Gregory Stephenson, KBS Foundation
The Impact
The Monetary Award from the KBS Foundation, Ltd has been IMPACTFUL to our family. As a member of a medium income family, Daniel was/is not eligible for any type of financial aid, except loans. Despite using parental loans to finance Daniel’s higher education, we still had/have out of pocket contributions for his matriculation at SUNY Oneonta as a freshman. The Award enabled us to pay off the remaining balance for the Fall 2025 semester, alleviating a financial hardship but a necessary sacrifice for the attainment of higher education.
As we as a community continues to mentor, guide, motivate and encourage our youth, especially young black men, and in their pursuit of higher education or otherwise, we don’t want finance to be an impediment.
The KBS Foundation with their awards is leading the way – providing financial opportunities for young men, big or small – IMPACTFUL! We are eternally grateful and appreciative of the KBS Foundation.
From 2024 Scholarship recipient Peter Francis.
“My first year at Yale has been truly magical. While adjusting to a new environment is always a challenge, I quickly found my footing. The KBS scholarship was vital in this transition, as it allowed me to fully equip myself for academic success. It allowed me to purchase a laptop and iPad, finally having a digital note-taking system, along with all my necessary course textbooks.
But Yale has been more than just academics. You never know if you truly belong somewhere until you settle in, and through joining a comedy improv group, working as a college aide, mentoring other STEM scholars, and becoming an orientation leader, I can confidently call Yale my home. I have a positive outlook that I’m a work in progress, and things will only get better. This is thanks in large part to the K B S Foundation scholarship for giving me the ability to take advantage of these opportunities”
Testimony from mother of 2025 scholarship awardee, Jaiden Stewart
“Jaiden had a very smooth transition to college. Thank you all for preparing him so well.
The K B S Foundation scholarship was a big help for Jaiden and I. This money was used as our first payment for college. As a single mother this scholarship came at the perfect time. We are so grateful for this opportunity as it provided Jaiden with access to a higher education and contributed to his promising career. “
Feminist Student Union at The Brooklyn Latin School Says Thank You
“We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the K B S Foundation, Ltd. for your incredibly generous donation of $500 towards our efforts to provide essential feminine hygiene products.
This contribution is much more than just a monetary gift; it is an investment in the health, dignity, and confidence of individuals in our community who face barriers to accessing these fundamental necessities.
The impact of your generosity is immediate and tangible. This $500 will directly fund the purchase and distribution of a substantial supply of pads, tampons, and other essential menstrual care items, ensuring direct access for those in need. Furthermore, your donation plays a crucial role in restoring dignity, as the lack of these products often forces difficult choices and compromises; your support ensures that individuals do not have to choose between their health and other basic necessities. Finally, by removing this significant barrier, this contribution is empowering participation, enabling students to stay in class, employees to remain at work, and community members to participate fully and confidently in their daily lives.
The entire club and, most importantly, the recipients of these products thank the Foundation for recognizing this vital need and stepping forward with such thoughtful support. We are profoundly grateful for your commitment to the community’s well-being.”
2025 Impact Awards – Bonnie Youth Organization, Coach Dharyl J. Russell – Bonnie Assistant AD
“On behalf of the Bonnie Youth Organization, we like to thank your organization for their support and generosity in gifting two $500 Impact Awards. The Bonnies have existed since 1949 and we continue to thrive with the support of community and friends, such as longtime Bonnie members like Seth Layne. Please know that the two Impact Award recipients: Christian Francis and William CoPenny are extremely appreciative and grateful for this gift, and are very successful students and athletes. Their fine successes show the strength and spirit of doing it the “Bonnie Way”, which is dedicating a life to education, raising confident people, and the self development of youth through the vehicle of baseball and volunteerism.
We hope this is the beginning of a longtime partnership and please feel free to reach out if the Bonnie family can be of service to your organization as well.
Award Recipients: Christian Francis (16u) and William CoPenny (17u)”
